I know by posting this, I will probably prompt our commissioner to send an e-mail saying trades are strictly prohibited right now, but that doesn't mean you can't start thinking about things! I have many players I would like to keep, but I don't have room for them. Below is the list of players who didn't quite make the cut. I am looking for either future draft picks (1969 or later) or corner outfielders who play immediately.
Jim Hannan, SP: in 1968, he pitches 140 innings with a WAR of 2.3 and an ERA of 3.01. Has slightly more usage in 1969 and 1970 and is about as good those years as well.
Lou Johnson, LF/RF: 1968 is his last year of good service. 438 plate appearances, WAR of 1.3, and OPS of .669.
Gary Wagner, RP: In 1968, pitches 78 innings with a WAR of 1.3 and a WHIP of 1.282. Not worth keeping after 1968.
John Donaldson, 2B: In 1968, has 419 plate appearances with a WAR of 1.8. Not worth keeping after 1968.
Don Shaw, RP: Are you a potential playoff team who wants a part time dominating pitcher in each series? Then Don Shaw is your guy. He only pitched 12 innings in 1968, but he has a WHIP of 0.667 and an ERA+ of 415. He is nearly guaranteed to dominate a 9th inning in one or two games in each playoff series!
Jerry McNertney, C: Sick of always struggling to find a solid backup catcher and have an extra spot on your roster? Look no further than McNertney is a perfect backup catcher from 1968-1971. With between 197 and 449 plate appearances in those years, his WAR bounces between .1 and 1.5.
